Politics of Judgment

So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? Romans 23:3

The stance of our democracy has now reached a new level of maturity, and the progress of our nation will also depend on how much we mature spiritually. The political debates on several issues had been dragging on and on, and as the media war continues our sins will also continue to multiply. It is to our knowledge that there will always be political rivalries as long as politics survives. God has established politics as an institute for peace and justice. However these God ordained institutes has been stained by corruption, injustice and hatred. Over the years, we have witnessed that political rivalries has intensified, as we progressed in modernity and technologies. It is a stated fact that politics has become a platform for sinners to judge, criticize and humiliate each other. The person who fights against corruption when he or she is actually corrupted is like a person who says, -Å“I am a sinner and yet I sin-Å“. It is not wrong to fight against corruption and injustice but it is wrong to say so when our lives are no different than the corrupted. I feel that the nature of the present debate only seems to be hurting the cause of our movement. The lies, the controversies and the vice of hypocrisy are now beginning to dominate the lives of politicians, national workers, government servants and the likes. The point is this: A good doctor will only prescribe good medicines, while an evil doctor will only plot what his heart is. We are always quick to criticize and slow to admit our own mistakes. These unhealthy debates have to stop if we really want to see our state progress as a nation. If a sinner preaches and he continues to sin, he becomes a teacher of sin. In order not to become what sinners are, we have to hate the sins of the sinners. The scripture states -Å“You therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at what point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you towards repentance? But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are stori ng up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God will give to each person according to what he has done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger (Romans 2:1-8 ). This message is not only for believers but also for politicians who are believers. We know the sins which we committed, and we should now start renouncing the evil which we did. The ministry of the Church of Christ is not a platform of debate. If we speak evil and think evil just because we have the liberty to sin, the worms of satan will start eating our flesh from within. The Word of life says -Å“The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men ll have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by you words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 12: 35-37). The truths of the scripture have never failed to warn, but the sad truth is that we fail to heed the warning. The phrase -Å“ for by your words you will be acquitted -Å“ is indeed a message of hope but the other half of the sentence is a warning in itself. If we can be acquitted by our words, we can also be condemned by it. Harsh truths always hurts and it is a weapon of conviction which is often used against sinners whom Christ loves. God loves the politicians as much as he loves the sinners. Every believer are also sinners who are saved by grace and every politicians will also be saved when they embrace the gift of salvation. Judge not that you may not be judged. The Righteous Judge watches over us. Enter our fold as we pursue the desires of Christ.
